@jopaddy81 (con’t) either Uruguay or South Korea to get into the semifinals. I mean really, you cannot ask for an easier set of games to make the semifinals. At that point, I would imagine USA would run into a team (like consequently) Netherlands and just give it their best shot, hoping to pull off a miracle like vs. Spain in the Confederation’s Cup. But really, USA will not have an easier group or run to the semifinals set up for them ever again.
@jopaddy81 …nobody wrote off Ghana. But we knew that if the US played Ghana, that was going to be basically their best chance to advance further. Personally, I rooted for Ghana and Australia which would have put Ghana #1 and Australia #2. USA would have played Australia in the Rd of 16, and they just played them in a friendly in South Africa just weeks earlier and the Aussies were awful.
But honestly, USA had a chance and that’s why we got excited. Ghana in Rd of 16 then … (con’t)
Why did all the US pundits write off Ghana. Ghana certainly had better players
@ALGMHDZ If USA want to better…? For soccer sake USA was better than Germany in Korea 2002 an a corrupt referee hand the game to the Germans…What are you taking about…We need REPLAY to CUT FIFAS HAND OUT OF THE GAME….
And speaking about us soccer MLS has been doing better too. Not bad for a 16 year old league;)
Ever since the us beat Spain they have been playing better and better!! They made it to the final of of the confederations cup and won group C of the world cup. It’s just a matter of time before the us becomes world champions:)

@TheNearPost…germany reached the final of the WC in 82. usa qualifies to every WC based on bullshit, look at the opponents, so stupid. they pick 5 from over 100 teams from african qualifiers to the WC. USA has to play mexico canada and all other unknown wak teams. lets be serious there are 3 spots for north america that’s why usa and mexico always qualify. If usa wants to become better they should play qualifiers versus brazil. argentina, uruguay, etc. African teams play 3 rounds to qualify

@ALGMHDZ Key words – back in the day. Nowadays, the USA is better. History only means something for a little while.We beat Spain 2-0 and nearly had Brazil. I mean, I understand that Algeria have a good history, and I respect that, but saying it they would beat us any other day is ridiculous. Right now, Algeria are really barely worth mentioning…
Algeria played this game to do everything they could to eliminate the US, not to win but to hold us to a tie and have the claim as being the team who knocked the US out.

One of the best moments in my sports life, definitely the greatest moment in US Soccer history. I thought I was going to have a heart attack, but the reward was AMAZING!
When Landon scored that goal I literally sprinted around my living room screaming at the top of my lungs banging on the walls for about 3 minutes straight, sporadically checking the tv to make sure it was still 1-0.
It was easily one of the top 5 greatest moments in American sports history.
Who says USA isn’t a force!! Just like America don’t quit till the end!
