@Mrbrycewill Zoff had the sun right in his face and couldn’t see the kick of Brandts, but surely Holland played well that match, I just say that Italy deserved the WC because until there they gave many good performances, also beating the ones that would have been champions (Argentina).

Italy was the best team of the 1978 WC, just a bit unlucky in this match.
Ernie Brandts execution is extraordinary out of a precision and power point of view, anyhow match would have been different if foul on Claudio Gentile by Johnny Rep at 1:58 would have been detected

No. The 1978 finals didnt have semi finals it was the winners of the two remaining groups that went through
Zoff had some problems with his eyes and this fact always effected his career.

Holland of the 70’s, such a great team ! Unlucky in 1974, unlucky in 1978. The Dutch team of 2010 never even got near the form of the 70’s, but got closer to winning the world cup.

In fact, every day as I leave my dorm room I place my left hand on a poster of Robben to wish him good luck, and I bought the new Adidas F30’s in a red colour like he has, and I’m a big Bayern supporter… so yeah! I *SO* hope the Netherlands can beat Brazil and go on to win their first world cup!

They’re totally different players. Not only that but Robben isn’t renowned for his long distance shots. It’s funny how this game was played at 1.30pm just like Holland vs Denmark in the 2010 WC. As I was watching that game the other day this game crossed my mind for some reason.
