it’s great to have at least one giant-killer in each world cup, that is, as long as they don’t crush the teams I am rooting for 😀
I’ll never forget that second Algerian goal. What strikes me most is the speed. He’s off celebrating almost before the ball’s gone in.
superb performance by the algerians..shame they didn’t progress on to the next round ’cause of THAT shambles of a match between the germans and austrians
Whatever happened to the Algerian no.5, Merzekane? He looks an absolutely superb attacking defender.
@ricardovasa It was a real ballsy performance by Algeria. They had no fear in their attack….truth be told, Ruminigge was playing injured and he was like the cog in Germany’s attack. So they caught them real good.
@ricardovasa oh yes, they were ballsy to play the Germans like that…Attacking like they had no fear…truth be told Ruminigge was playing w/ an injury and he was like the nuclueus of that side and there was doubt of doing well. Hrubesch, Littbarski, Magath, etc. So in a way, Algeria caught them off good.
Hopefully someone should investigate that collusion of how exactly Algeria got robbed of a second round tie. Im sure that it had to have been on goal difference by the West Germans because of the 5-1 win over Chile. Nevertheless,the Austrians were as crooked by their “appearance”.

Algeria were so good.. pacey,accurate passing and great movement off the ball. I would have loved to have seen this Algerian team play Brasil82. Would have been one of the greatest games ever.

if algeria beat USA and England in this years world cup, there would be a great chance for algeria and germany to face-off again agaisnt each other to setttle the score, but since England is now fucked up, i guess they wasted germany’s time no?
