Fantasy Football League – Funniest World Cup Moment Ever!
From ITV’s Fantasy Planet Cup collection with David Baddiel and Frank Skinner, right here is a classic Phoenix From The Flames sketch featuring Ilunga Mwepu kicking away a Brazil no cost-kick for Zaire in their 1974 FIFA Planet Cup match on June 22, 1974 Broadcast on 11th June 1998 I’m searching to increase my assortment of full episodes of this – I presently have about a dozen BBC episodes, and all of the ITV episodes. If you have something to trade, please give me a PM and we’ll focus on it.
Bring back Baddiel & Skinner on Fantasy Football, not forgetting STATTO, of course
It was great to watch and a lot of fun.
who is the tallest football?
what a fantastic guy
Fantastic!
They should make some more fantasy football shows.
natural comedian – one of my absolutes heroes
hahaha this is legend, where the fuck they find this guy
I’d take this comedy over Jonathon Ross or Russell Brand, anyday.
this guy is an unsung legend! “oh bollacks”. lmfao
@nja1969 yeah we need someit to mop cordens shit stain like
ilunga is a really good sport, considering he was just wasting time in the game since his life had been threatened if Brazil scored another goal. this should be listed as a World Cup´s Saddest Moment.
oh bollocks!! Brilliant
Brilliant bloke
@paoloblanc Taken in such good humour, I have great respect for this guy 😛
This show should make a return – James Cordens world cup show is shite.
lolololololololololol
what a great sport this guy is, miss fantasy football was great viewing back in the 90’s
Just brilliant
I’ve been watching a few of these FFL clips for nostalgia, and it looks really shit these days to be honest… except this clip, which is fucking hilarious. And Ilunga is a total dude.
this is so funny
“I’ll go down in history. Everyone will respect me.” lol
Classic. We had this in Australia for the 1998 World Cup and the Phoenix from the flames moments were pure class. This is one of the best ones
I had to wait 5 or so minutes before posting cos I was laughing so much. just when you think it’s reached the comic peak, it usurps it – the cravat joke, the porn Sinstadt running gag, the dog, and then the punchline. god I wish they’d never stopped this programme.
Mwepu was hilarious.
i was watching the world cup draw today and when they were doing a history lesson of past world cups they showed this part!!!! i thought about this vid and laughed so hard!
God bless Ilunga Mwepu! The story behind his iconic moment is actually quite a sad one that tells you much about his country’s tragic state of affairs at the time. It’s fantastic that he can see the humour in it, and Zaire definitely had the best shirt in World Cup history. Hope to see them return as DR Congo one day.
@DIGSYtheBRIT They aren’t doing another series of Fantasy Football, but they are doing another series of World Cup podcasts, as they did for the 2006, all of which you can still download from their official website.
In addition, they are also doing a live radio show for Absolute Radio during next year’s tournament.
