VAN GAAL ANNOUNCED AS THE NETHERLANDS NEW HEAD COACH

Some reports started making the rounds from around three weeks ago that former Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal was getting close to reaching an agreement with the Netherlands Football Federation to become their national team’s new head coach following the dismissal of the former coach Frank de Boer.

De Boer was relieved of his duties by the federation as he could not help them go far at the Euros 2020 tournament. Their disappointing campaign saw them crash out of the competition during the knockout stage and it was unexpected of them because of the wealth of talents they had in the squad heading into the tournament.

VanGaal has coached the Dutch national team before and knows a thing or two about guiding the team past knockout rounds after he helped them to oversee a historic win against Spain at the 2014 FIFA World Cup as they thrashed Spain, thanks to some attacking flair and precision from a squad which included players like Robin Van Persie, Arjen Robben, Daley Blind, and a lot of others.

Van Gaal revealed some weeks ago that he was following the performances and progress of the Netherlands national team at the Euros and insisted that he was not happy with what he was seeing. And after then, he was contacted by the country’s federation as they asked him to return and take the job for the third time.

Van Gaal will be the Oranje team’s new head coach and will assume his duties officially in the coming months. He is expected to be the man to guide the country to the FIFA World Cup tournament next year in Qatar as he looks forward to helping them have a better tournament as football’s biggest tournament starts in November next year.
