ENGLAND WORLD CUP 1966 in Color “GOAL” part 2
London’s Wembley Stadium offered the venue for the last, and 98000 individuals crammed inside of to view. Soon after twelve minutes 32 seconds Helmut Haller had place West Germany ahead, but the score was levelled by Geoff Hurst 4 minutes later. Martin Peters set England in the lead in the 78th minute England looked set to claim the title when the referee awarded a free of charge kick to West Germany with 1 moment left. The ball was launched goalward and Wolfgang Weber managed to poke it across the line, with England appealing in vain for handball as the ball arrived via the crowded penalty region. With the score stage at two-2 at the stop of ninety minutes, the game went to further time. In the 98th moment Hurst discovered himself on the score sheet once more his shot hit the crossbar, bounced down onto or in the vicinity of the aim line. Whether the ball truly crossed the goal line or not has been a matter of discussion for decades, and the controversial call has grow to be aspect of Planet Cup heritage. Current digitally-enhanced footage is said to obviously illustrate that Geoff Hurst’s second target did cross the line In the very last minute it was Hurst once again, who dribbled easily by means of the German 50 percent to net his third target, just as the gathered crowd invaded the pitch to celebrate with the group, as a result cementing the victory for England with yet another controversial goal. This manufactured Geoff Hurst the only player at any time to have scored three occasions in a Globe Cup final.
@smoochym Then I don’t want to hear another Englishman complaining about that “our goal was disallowed” either.
@DrStrangebomb1993 it was given, we won, Ronaldo is a chump.
Deal with it.
@TheHadoi that’s wrong many experts say that the third english goal was’t a goal everybody knows that xD
@TheHadoi Incorrect hat-trick, that is. Actually, he only scored two goals. Equal to what Ronaldo did in the 2002 final.
@staunchx
Yep that was him.Geoff Hurst was on the ground anyway so I don’t think he could’ve seen it.And even if Germans still complain about that goal to this day,then the Germans second goal should never have counted anyway.Handball and Offside.But still no one can take away the fact that Geoff Hurst is the only footballer to have ever scored a hat-trick in the World Cup Final.
@TheHadoi
Actually I just read online that his ‘admission’ was an April Fool’s joke and was part of some online webcast that was later retracted…you’re right about the English player being in position to finish – Roger Hunt I believe his name was?
@staunchx its probably because thats the only thing germans and people around the world talked about for the last 44 years.i think he felt that if he just said the ball didnt cross the line then they would stop the talking and arguing and get on with life and football.and plus,there was another english player from liverpool standing right in front of the goal,if it didnt pass the goal line,then he would have just tapped it in,but it already did,and he knew what he saw.
@JimmyL84
I agree, I believe soccer was much more wide open, creative, and entertaining back in the day…but I think there was just as much controversy back then as there is now. Witness the quarter-final of the ’66 World Cup between England and Argentina, or the Battle of Berne in the ’54 Cup between Hungary and Brazil.
@TheHadoi
Geoff Hurst admitted in April of this year that the goal shouldn’t have counted.
Cum on England 4-2 4-2 4-2
For the Germans’ second goal,it obviously touched his arm and people say he was even in an offside position…and I believe England’s third goal did cross the line,because they can’t take a film from 1966 and enhance the video with today’s technology…most of the people posting videos of how England’s third was no where near the goal are fake
@JimmyL84 Don’t think from that that I think football is bad or anything, but I do think you’re spot on with what you say
@JimmyL84 I completely agree! It’s a shame what’s happened to what used to be a great sport for everyone
I’D LOVE TO COMPARE THAT ROCK BALL TO SUPERMARKET JABULANI.
Jeez the ball sounds so heavy on contact.
Im only 26 but by watching this I can almost understand why the older generation say football was better in ‘dem days’!Lets compare football in ’66 to today.Well one observation is it looks to me like you have German fans mixing with the English fans at Wembley.Could you imagine that happening now?There are a few protests by the German players for Englands 3rd goal you don’t get them surrounding the referee and barking at them like dogs.There also seems to be a mutual respect between players.
@bondsee
